The name J-Moss is a combination of initial of =81gJapan=81h and an acronym of JIS C 0950 title = =81gThe marking for presence of the specific chemical substances for electrical and = electronic=20 equipment.=81h

 

JIS C 0950 is a Japanese Industrial Standard = specifying the=20 rules about "marking for presence" of 6 specific chemical = substances for=20 the 7 specific electrical and electronic products. The JIS is = quoted in=20 the ministry ordinance of the Japanese Recycling Law (the Law for=20 Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources) as a method of = marking,=20 and then its requirement is mandatory for the designated 7=20 products.

 

The JIS C 0950 was originally issued in 2005, and was = revised=20 in January 2008.  = The=20 following is the information about the law and new=20 JIS.

According to the revision of JIS in 2008, the = implementation of=20 the J-Moss Green mark has been changed as follows: 

 

(a) The = Green mark is=20 not defined in JIS any more. =20 The old JIS (C 0950:2005) has been =

revised = in January=20 2008, and the new JIS (C 0950:2008) does not include the = Green=20 mark.  =

The newly designed Green = mark is=20 defined by the industrial guideline called =81gJ-Moss =

Green = mark=20 Guideline.=81h

 

(b) The newly designed Green mark has been effective = since=20 January 21, 2008 on which date

the new JIS and the =81gJ-Moss Green mark = Guideline=81h was issued.=20 Scope of the new =

Green mark = is limited=20 to 7 products which are target products for obligation of =

=81gContent mark (orange mark)=81h. Products other = than the following=20 cannot bear the new Green mark: =20

(c) The old = Green mark=20 can be used for products which were manufactured or imported=20

old Green mark nor new Green mark.
