Substances for SVHC Evaluation

SVHC is short for substance of very high concern as defined by Article 57 of REACH. The evaluation process for SVHCs follows these steps:
Proposed by EU Member State or European Commission and published in the Registry of Intentions
Dossier prepared by a Member State or ECHA according to instructions in Annex XV
Public consultation for interested parties to submit comments and additional information to ECHA (45 days)
Opinion issued by ECHA Member State Committee
Decision issued by ECHA adding substances to Candidate List
Note: most but not all SVHC evaluations end with the substance being placed on the Candidate List
Consultation: currently there are no substances being evaluated for inclusion on the Candidate List. The last public consultation period ended October 13, 2011.

Registry of Intentions: fourteen substances are likely candidates for future SVHC evaluation because a Member State or ECHA has registered its intention to prepare the dossier required for evaluation. Eight of these are scheduled to be submitted by January 30th; a ninth dossier is expected in December 2012:
